【摘要】:Samplingatspecifieddepth(s)withinaliquidmaybeneededtoconfirmorruleoutvariationswithinatargetpopulation.Thispracticedescribesthedesignandoperationofcommerciallyavailablegrabanddiscretedepthsamplersforpersonsresponsiblefordesigningorimplementingsamplingprograms,orboth.Thesesamplingdevicesareusedforsamplingliquidsintanks,ponds,impoundments,andotheropenbodiesofwater.Somemaybeusedfromtheedgeorbankofthesamplingsite,whereassomecanonlybeusedfromaplatform,boat,orbridgeoverthesamplingsite.Someofthedevicesdescribedaresuitableforsamplingslurriesandsludgesaswellasaqueousandotherliquidswithfewornosuspendedsolids.PracticeD5743providesguidanceforsamplingdrums,tanks,orsimilarcontainers.Thispracticedoesnotaddressgeneralguidelinesforplanningwastesamplingactivities(GuideD4687),developmentofdataqualityobjectives(PracticeD5792),thedesignofmonitoringsystemsanddeterminationofthenumberofsamplestocollect(PracticeD6311),insitumeasurementofparametersofinterest,dataassessmentandstatisticalinterpretationofresultantdata(GuideD6233),samplepreservation,samplingandfieldqualityassurance(GuideD5612),ortheselectionofsamplinglocationsorobtainingarepresentativesample(GuideD6044).1.1Thispracticedescribessamplingdevicesandproceduresforcollectingsamplesofliquidsorsludges,orboth,whoseuppersurfacecanbeaccessedbythesuitabledevice.Thesedevicesmaybeusedtosampletanksthathaveanappropriatelysizedandlocatedsamplingport.1.2Thispracticedescribesanddiscussestheadvantagesandlimitationsofthefollowingcommonlyusedequipment,someofwhichcanbeusedforbothgrabanddiscretedepthsampling:dipper,liquidgrabsampler,swingjarsampler,BaconBomb,Kemmerersampler,DiscreteLevelsampler,liquidprofiler,liddedsludge/watersampler,peristalticpump,andtheSyringesampler.1.3Thispracticeprovidesinstructionsontheuseofthesesamplers.1.4Thispracticedoesnotaddresssamplingdevicesforcollectinggroundwater.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
