【摘要】:1Thispracticecoversdosimctricprocedurestobefollowedinfacilitycharacterization,processqualification,androutineprocessingusingX-rays(bremsstrahlung)toensurethattheentireproducthasbeentreatedwithinanacceptablerangeofabsorbeddoses.Otherproceduresrelatedtofacilitycharacterization,processqualification,androutineprocessingthatmayinfluenceabsorbeddoseintheproductarealsodiscussed.Theestablishmentofeffectiveorregula-torydoseandX-rayenergylimitsarenotwithinthescopeofthispractice.2Incontrasttomonoenergeticgammarays,thebremsstrahlungenergyspectrumextendsfromlowvaluesuptothemaximumenergyoftheelectronsincidentontheX-raytarget(seeSection5andtheAppendix).3Dosimetryisonlyonecomponentofatotalqualityassuranceprogramforanirradiationfacility.Othercontrolsbesidesdosimetrymayberequiredforspecificapplicationssuchasmedicaldevicesterilizationandfoodpreservation(seeSections8,9,and10andNote8).Note1—Forguidanceintheselection,calibration,anduseofspecificdosimetersandinterpretationofabsorbeddoseintheproductfromdosemeasurements,seethedocumentslistedin2.1and2.2.Note2—Bremsstrahlungcharacteristicsaresimilartogammaraysfromradioactiveisotopes.SeePracticeE1204fortheapplicationsofdosimetryinthecharacterizationandoperationofgamma-rayirradia-tionfacilities.Forinformationconcerningelectronbeamirradiationtechnologyanddosimetry,seePracticeE1431.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappro-priatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplica-bilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
